Chinese president concludes three-nation trip

Chinese President Hu Jintao left the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat for home on Friday, concluding his three-nation trip that had earlier taken him to South Korea and Tajikistan.

During the visit to Turkmenistan, Hu held talks with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on the expansion of friendly cooperation between the two countries, and both pledged to make joint efforts to push forward bilateral ties.

They also exchanged views on major international and regional issues.

Chinese diplomats say that President Hu's visit has fulfilled the goal of strengthening friendship and enlarging mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Since China and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations 16 years ago, bilateral ties have progressed rapidly with both countries witnessing frequent high-level exchanges, strong political trust and remarkable cooperation in trade, energy, transport and culture.

The Chinese president arrived in Ashgabat on Thursday evening. He began his three-nation trip on Monday.

In the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, President Hu attended the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
